Product Description

Irish mantle clock SOLD

(or more correctly, a shelf clock) Made in the late nineteenth century By James Mangan of Patrick Street, Cork.

This Irish mantle clock is featured in the Heritage council Poster / leaflets about Irish horological heritage. Click on this link to find the poster on the Irish Horological Craft Forum website.

The clock case contains a paper label of LDR Notter, Barrach Street, Bantry. Not much is known about this watchmaker and jeweller except the Guy’s Postal Directory of 1914 lists Webb B and Notter as jewellers etc.

The movement is imported from Germany and most likely fitted to the case locally.
